San Francisco artist <a title=\"Jason Mecier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonmecier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jason Mecier<\/a> does the unexpected: he uses&nbsp;old electronic &#8220;junk&#8221; to create amazingly textured mosaics. We&#8217;ve written about artists <a title=\"The Use of Garbage: Photo Mosaics from Junkmail\" href=\"\/blog\/junkmail-photo-mosaics\/\">making mosaics out of garbage<\/a> in the past, but there&#8217;s a lot to take in with Mecier&#8217;s work. You can explore various pieces on his unique, somewhat bizarre, <a title=\"Jason Mecier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonmecier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">website<\/a>. You&#8217;ll also find that Mercier doesn&#8217;t limit his medium to simply &#8220;junk;&#8221; his online gallery displays&nbsp;a wide variety of mosaics using candy, pharmaceuticals, yarn, and more. <a title=\"This Steve Jobs Portrait Was Made Out Of 20lbs Of Electronic Waste [Updated] | Cult of Mac\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cultofmac.com\/266887\/steve-jobs-portrait-made-20lbs-electronic-waste\/\" target=\"_blank\">He&#8217;s been quoted<\/a> stating that each piece of work can&nbsp;take&nbsp;\u201cAt least fifty hours, but many take much, much longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mecier&#8217;s mosaics&nbsp;remind me of a local Philadelphia artist named <a title=\"Philadelphia's Magic Gardens\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phillymagicgardens.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Isaiah Zagar<\/a> whose work can be found peppered throughout&nbsp;the South Philadelphia area. It&#8217;s quite a spectacle to stumble onto a work of art on the street, but that&#8217;s <a title=\"Philadelphia Photos -- National Geographic's Ultimate City Guides\" href=\"http:\/\/travel.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/city-guides\/philadelphia-photos-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">not hard to do in Philly<\/a>.
